Magenta memory
The Gamba de Legn
From the late 1800s to 1957, the steam tram nicknamed Gamba de Legn linked Magenta (and Castano) to Milan — a symbol of commuters, markets and wartime evacuations. Historic Milan terminus: Piazzale Baracca then Corso Vercelli. Last run: 31 August 1957; a locomotive is now at the Science and Technology Museum.
